Advisor Assignments

New students are assigned an advisor early each semester based on their intended and/or declared major.  The Advising Center works with all new students regardless of intended major prior to the first official university assignment of an advisor.

New First Year Students

New incoming first year students are assigned to an advisor based on their choice of intended major or acceptance into the Honors Program.

  • Honors - Honors Advising, CH 216
  • All intended Business Majors - Pre-Business Advising Center, CH 229
  • All other intended majors - Advising Center, CH 366
New Transfer Students

New Transfer Students with an intended major are assigned a school, program or department advisor. Transfer students who are still deciding on a major (undecided) are assigned to an advisor in the Advising Center.

All students can change their intended major following the link below or by filling out a form in the Advising Center (CH 366) or Records and Registration (AS 118)

Faculty members who would like to serve as a particular student’s advisor can contact the Advising Center by email to request as much.

registration Access Codes

All students without a declared major are required to meet with their assigned advisor or advising center if they want to receive their Registration Access Code.  Some departments also require access codes for students with a declared major.  Ask your advisor.
