IBWLP Mission

To develop a network of international black women leaders who intentionally act to uplift black women everywhere.

IBWLP Vision

Our vision is to share an international black women’s leadership model that emphasizes the value of team work, knowledge, skills, courage, a combination of intuition and rationality that will make a difference in the lives of the black women world-wide. We seek to strengthen the link between black women in the United States and black women in Africa; to facilitate more knowledge about each other and our personal cultural orientations. We want to eliminate the effects of isolation, tokenism and the oppression of black women.

The International Black Women’s Leadership Project is creating a pool of black women experts who can mentor, advise, develop one-on-one relationships with other women and be committed to their development. Through thoughtful and sensitive attention to individual stories, we seek to enrich our understanding of the varied experiences of women and the unique personal, cultural and ethnic heritage they bring to leadership roles.

Black women leaders present themselves as both bold and humble in the face of the our changing times. We must provide visionary leadership that mobilizes and focuses our energy and actions. Our vision evolves with new learning and must be sustained during times of resistance and challenge.
