DO IT ANYWAY: The real deal on activist work in a complex time
The new generation of activists : Courtney E. Martin

Brooklyn-based author and blogger Courtney E.
Martin will explore themes from her criticallyacclaimed
new book Do It Anyway: The New
Generation of Activists, in which she profiles eight
diverse, young activists who are using their biggest
gifts to serve the world's deepest needs—including
environmental justice advocate Nia Robinson, radical
philanthropist Tyrone Boucher, and actor Rosario
Dawson, among others. Her call to abandon the
"save the world" rhetoric of yesteryear and embrace
a new, more realistic version of social justice will
inspire overwhelmed students. Martin is an editor
at Feministing.com and recently spoke at the first
annual TED Women's Conference. Jane Fonda called
Do It Anyway "transformational" and Parker Palmer
described Courtney as "one of our most insightful
culture critics."
