Adult Student Learner Orientation
At SCSU, we work to support all of our students and meet their needs on an individual and group basis. We have some programming specifically for targeted groups, such as Veteran/Active Military, Transfers, Adult Student Learners, Commuters and Student-Parents, among others. Activities provided during Orientation are open for all new transfer, commuter & adult student learner/non-traditional students and we encourage you to participate in as many of the Welcome Weekend activities as possible.
We understand it's not always possible to make the trip to campus, so we will be providing access to information shared throughout Welcome Weekend in an online D2L course called "Orientation". This way, even if you can't make it to campus, you can still have access to the information on becoming a Husky! We are also offering 3 - one hour Facebook 'chats' with orientation staff. Connect with us on Facebook! See the "Student Schedule" tab for times and details.
New students who join Orientation Groups for: Veterans, Student-Parents, Transfer Students, Commuters and Adult Student Learners will have the opportunity to complete the required Respect & Responsibility workshop during Sunday of Welcome Weekend. This will take place during the 1:00pm - 3:00pm Orientation Group time. Students participating in Welcome Weekend who do not have meal plans will be provided free meal tickets from Orientation Leaders for the events which provide meals.
We are also pleased to offer free childcare on Sunday, August 24 for student-parents participating in Orientation activities. Students must pre-register their children with the First Year and Transition Programs office in advance. Please use the Orientation Group sign-up to indicate your need for childcare and contact our staff for more details.
We strong encourage you to participate in the social event designed for Adult Student Learners, Commuters, Transfer Students, Veteran/Active Military and Student-Parent on Saturday, August 23 from 7:30pm - 9:00pm in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center atrium. Join us for a social welcome with networking and snacks before heading to Opening Ceremony together.
FREE Parking is available for commuters on Welcome Weekend in N Lot and the South Pay Lot.
