We also assist faculty with service-learning. Service-learning is an exciting teaching strategy that enriches the curriculum by combining meaningful community service with academic learning. Service-learning provides "real-life" experiences by linking students with local communities and service providers. Reflection and reciprocity are key concepts of service-learning.
SCSU's Service-Learning Coordinator helps foster engagement across the campus. For instructors who are thinking of incorporating service-learning into their course curriculum, or those who just want to know more about this teaching and research method, please do not hesitate to contact Nikki Knisley, Service-Learning Coordinator, at 308-3898.

RESOURCE LIBRARY ~ How to learn more
A resource library is being built for your use. Selected titles are available on topics such as Service-Learning, Reflection, Team Building and Volunteerism. Stop by the Volunteer Connection office to review and check-out any of these resources.
Also take a look at these online service-learning resources or these sources of funding.
TOOLS AND FORMS ~ What you can do
Some planning tools and forms are available online to assist in creating service-learning projects and integrating them into your courses. The course revision exercise will help you determine if service-learning is a good fit for your course and what type of service component will achieve the course’s academic goals. Here are some ideas for preparing students for service-learning and an outline of students’ responsibilities while participating. You can also find templates for service-learning contracts and time logs.
All students participating in service-learning must have a signed St. Cloud State University service-learning release of liability form on file with the Service-Learning Coordinator for each service-learning initiative in which they participate
