This bi-weekly bulletin lists information about one-time and on-going service opportunities, special events, and nonprofit agencies that we hope will help you get involved in the community! Big Brothers Big Sisters

is partnering with Del-Tone/Luth Gun Club for the 3rd Annual Haunted House of Del-Tone. We are in need of volunteers to help out with taking tickets and scaring the ones who dare to enter.

We will provide you with the costumes, as well as FREE pizza and pop. We need volunteers for the full time commitment of 5pm-11pm for the nights of Oct 28th-31st.

Please indicate the night(s) you are available.

  • Saturday, October 29th
  • Sunday, October 30th
  • Monday, October 31st

Little Moments...Big Magic!

Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center

Volunteer Advocate Training is starting October 26th. Training Includes: Crisis Line, Hospital Response, Criminal Justice Information and MUCH MORE!!! Training is a forty hour time commitment Wednesday evenings from 5:00-9:00pm and two Saturdays from 8:30am-4:30pm. Contact Tamara at 251-4357 for more information or to sign up!

Bridging, Inc.

Do you enjoy working with people? Like to shop? Do you have any carpentry or electrical skills? Like to work out without having to pay big bucks? Volunteer with Bridging, Inc. as an office or shopping assistant, sorter, warehouse support or in our repair shop. Area Learning Center

Volunteers needed to provide childcare for infants and toddlers while their teen parents meet with teachers. Daycare hours are 8am-1pm. Anyone interested in early childhood, anyone with childcare experience, anyone wanting a meaningful work study or volunteer opportunity is encouraged to participate. Central Minnesota Community Foundation

Looking for students/staff volunteers who are familiar with Microsoft Share Point to assist our committee in quickly developing a website on our Community VIEW for our Hurricane Katrina Sister City Project. Please contact Tony Nathe at 253-4380 or slorenz@communitygiving.org for more information.

Sauk Rapids-Rice ISD#47

  • Volunteers are needed in the Sauk Rapids ABE (Adult Basic ED) school program to help take care of children Monday or Wednesday mornings 8:45-11:15am and or Tuesday or Thursday evenings 5:45-8:15pm. Work with children birth to five years old in the morning and children birth to 12 years old in the evening.
  • Classroom volunteers are needed in elementary schools in Sauk Rapids and Rice to help with reading, math and other subjects.
  • Playground volunteers are needed at Mississippi Heights Elementary School in Sauk Rapids.
  • Volunteers would help at recess during two shifts 10:50-11:10 for kindergarten and 11:15-11:35 for 1st grade. Any day of the week!
  • Volunteers to help with a student reading club at Rice Elementary on Friday mornings 9-10am are needed. Rice is about 13 miles NW of St. Cloud off of HWY 10. Rice is a terrific school with terrific students and staff, well worth the drive!

St. Cloud Area Faith in Action

is a faith-based, nondenominational organization serving St. Cloud, Waite Park, Sartell, Sauk Rapids and Rice. We need individuals or teams of friends who can spend one to two hours each week doing some light housekeeping for older adults or people with disabilities. This would include such activities as dusting, vacuuming, and mopping floors. Not only will you be helping someone in need, but you will have some special time with a friend as you work together. A nine-month to one year commitment is preferred. For more information, call Cherise or Lois at 320-258-8678.

Heritage Nature Center

The Heritage Nature Center is looking for volunteers for our annual Halloween Historia Event. This is a great family fun event, with games, hayrides, facepainting, crafts, and more! This year's Halloween Historia will run from 12-4p.m. on Saturday, October 29. We are looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of the event, including face painting, game attendants, craft table attendants, and characters on the critter trail.
