Joel A. Gibson

Joel is the Founder, President and Executive Director of Spiritual Opportunities for Life (also know as SOL – pronounced soul). SOL is an interfaith center established to assist individuals, organizations and businesses in the exploration and development of a greater sense of spirituality as it pertains to their life experiences, the work environment and the basic fabric of our society. The heart of SOL is an educational process focused on spiritual formation through study, meditation, reflection, focused dialogue and analysis of life experiences.
Joel Gibson spent twenty-five years in the Episcopal priesthood and was most recently the Dean of St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis. Prior to coming to the Twin Cities he served as the Sub Dean of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine and the Mission Officer of Trinity, Wall Street; both in New York City.
While at St. John’s, he assisted as program staff to The Temple of Understanding, the nation’s largest and oldest interfaith organization. He also served as chaplain, along with Rabbi Lavey Derby, to the interfaith program at Trinity School in Manhattan.
Joel Gibson attended Inter/Met Seminary in Washington D.C. Inter/Met was an interfaith seminary consisting of both Jewish and Christian students. While in seminary, he was a parish intern at St. Augustine’s Church, which shared worship and program space with Temple Micah.
In addition to his work at SOL, Joel is serving as the Executive Director of the Institute for New Americans, which provides educational opportunities and advocacy for immigrants and refugees of all ages. INA operates the Abraham Lincoln High School and the Lincoln Adult Education Center, both in Minneapolis. He is the agency’s immediate past president. He is on the board and past president of the Jeremiah Program of Minneapolis, which assist single mothers and their families in moving to a sustainable existence. He also serves on the boards of the United Theological Seminary.
Mr. Gibson conducts seminars and lectures for both businesses and religious groups on such topics as increasing performance and productivity through a heightened sense of peace, passion and purpose both within individual lives and within organizations. He is also a coach and mentor for leaders in all walks of life who seek to live and work from their center of innate integrity.
All events are free and open to the Public.
Parking: For
the evening performances, parking is available anywhere on campus after
7 pm. Evening performances will be held in the Performing Arts Center Arena
Theater. For daytime events, parking is available in Lots K and M on the
St. Cloud State University campus. Free shuttle buses will be provided
from K Lot to within one short block of the festival venue. Day events
will be held in the Atwood Little Theater.
