Hate crimes and acts of bias-motivated vandalism are being investigated by St. Cloud State University Public Safety and have been reported to the St. Cloud Police Department. Public Safety and law enforcement personnel are working together in these investigations.

Your assistance is sought in efforts to determine time frames of the incidents and to identify and hold accountable the responsible person(s).

Hate crime/bias-motivated vandalism

At 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, Public Safety learned that vandalism in the form of a swastika and an "X" had been carved into a wall and a chair had been damaged in the Student Cultural Center’s Computer Lab of the Atwood Memorial Center.  Initial interviews and investigation indicate that this incident occurred between 11:30 p.m. Monday, November 12, and the time the vandalism was discovered by a student who entered the lab at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 13.

At 10:19 a.m. Thursday, November 15, Public Safety was notified that a similar act of vandalism had occurred in the men’s restroom on the main floor of Atwood.  It was learned a swastika had been scratched on one side of a stall in that location.  A time frame for this incident’s occurrence has not been determined.
