What is Stress?

Stress is your body's physiological response to your environment. It is an inevitable part of life and can be triggered by internal or external cues. It can be constructive and useful, but in excess it can also be harmful. Its important to identify the signs of excessive stress in yourself and the sources of stress in your life. Eliminate those that you can, sometimes this is easy, sometimes you need to develop a plan!
Stress management involves daily practice and we've set up our stress busters around three themes: calming your body, clearing your head and looking for the positive.
Using these themes, you can build stress busters into each day.
We've included weekly suggestions, and we're interested in hearing more ideas from you.

Daily Themes

Remember three Stress Busters themes to practice daily:

Calm Your Body:
Slow down your breathing, especially when you find yourself feeling anxious. Practice counting to five on each breath in and each breath out.

Clear Your Head:
Take time every day to focus only on the next five minutes. Let the thoughts of yesterday and tomorrow leave your mind and stay completely in the present.

Look for the Positive:
Think of five good things that happened today. Practice finding the positive things that came out of even difficult situations.
