 UPB CommitteesYou Decide the Events!

UPB is currently comprised of 9 programming committees, all of which are open to any SCSU student!  If you are interested in joining or helping with an event, click on the committee name and then contact the coordinator.   It's easy to get involved... just show up at our meetings and give us your input and your time!

Atwood After Dark        Committee Meeting: Monday 4 p.m. - Atwood's Mississippi Room

This committee is responsible for programming a weekend, late-night event series, "Atwood After Dark." The program includes a variety of events, including novelty acts, showcasing performers, crafts, food, and more.
*Two-Time Award Winning Event Series from the National Association for Campus Activities

Concerts      Committee Meeting: Thursday 5 p.m. - Atwood's Mississippi Room

This committee is responsible for programming a variety of nationally known acts for SCSU students and the community.

Films      Committee Meeting: Monday 1 p.m. - Atwood's Mississippi Room

This committee selects and schedules the weekly film series, which are shown FREE in the Atwood Theatre. The committee also programs other film-related events such as speakers, outdoor movies, and filmmaker showcases.

Live At The Quarry     Committee Meeting: Monday 3 p.m. - Atwood's Oak Room

This committee sponsors programming that utilizes and showcases student talent and a variety of coffeehouse performers. Programs include the "Live At The Quarry" series and "Open Mic Night" Series.

Mississippi Music Fest      Committee Meeting: Wednesday 5 p.m. - Atwood's Mississippi Room

This committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the annual day long festival filled with a variety of music, food, crafts, and various other social activities. The committee is also responsible for programming SCSU's annual " Battle of the Unsigned Bands" contest.

National Events      Committee Meeting: Wednesday 1 p.m. - Atwood's Mississippi Room

This committee provides a diverse schedule of nationally and internationally recognized speakers for the SCSU campus community.

Performing Arts      Committee Meeting: Wednesday 3 p.m. - Atwood's Oak Room

This committee presents dance, theatre, music, spoken word, and open-mic events. The committee's goal is to offer educational, as well as diverse and entertaining programs.

Special Events      Committee Meeting: Thursday 1 p.m. Atwood's Union Room

This committee plans diverse activities and events, including Homecoming Week, Snow Daze, Spring Jam, and Family Weekend.

Visual Arts      Committee Meeting: Wednesday 10 a.m. - Atwood's Oak Room

This committee is responsible for curating art exhibits in the Atwood Art Gallery and the Atwood Ballroom Display Cases.


Executive Board

The Executive Board is comprised of the President and the two Vice Presidents of the organization.  This committee is responsible for the overall function of the organization.

Summer Programming

UPB plans several events and activities for SCSU students during the summer months.  Whether you're taking summer classes or not, we have plenty of opportunities for you.

UPB has implemented a new late-night program, Atwood After Dark, which won the region's "Program Series of the Year" in April 2005!
