St. Cloud State University’s efforts to market itself as a smart investment in a global education have been shaped by extensive market research with prospective students, parents of prospective students, alumni, current students, faculty and staff. Marketing efforts are based on the positioning statement developed in partnership with Stamats, a higher education marketing firm which conducted the market research here in 2005 and 2006.
That positioning statement is:
“St. Cloud State University is the academically diverse institution for students who want to make a smart investment in a global education.”
The attributes used to support the positioning statement and which highlight the essential characteristics of the SCSU experience are that St. Cloud State is:
- Student Centered
- Ideally located
The most recent marketing efforts—including print, television and movie theatre advertisements plus billboards and a direct-mail campaign to alumni in targeted areas—are targeted to gain the most exposure for the investment.
Other aspects of recent efforts include a new collection of admission publications and a redesigned St. Cloud State Web site.
