St. Cloud State University

University Wordmark

Introduced in 1996, our wordmark has become one of the university's most identifiable symbols. The wordmark must be used in one of its approved forms (page xx) on all visual communications such as printed materials and specialty items (t-shirts, other apparel, banners, etc.) The same guidelines for graphic images on printed materials apply to their use on t-shirts, other garments, banners and specialty items.

The following guidelines apply for use of the wordmark:

Wordmark Size

The wordmark must be large enough to be clearly legible. The minimum width is 1.8 inches.

Wordmark Placement

The wordmark, in one of its approved forms, must appear on the front of all printed materials.

To give our wordmark the presence it deserves, it must be surrounded by a clear space. No type or other graphic elements that distract from the wordmark can be allowed to intrude into the clear space. The protected area on each of the four sides side must be no less than the height of each "T" in the St. Cloud State University line. [For example, if you are using a 3 1/2 inch-wide wordmark (double the minimum size), the height of each "T" is 1/4 inch. That figure of 1/4 inch is, in this example, the amount of space you must leave around the wordmark.]

Wordmark Color

The preferred use of the wordmark is a combination of black and cardinal red (PMS 200), with the name and the line beneath it in black and "A tradition of excellence and opportunity" in red. When that combination is not used, the entire wordmark must be one color, preferably black, white or red.

Occasionally, the above wordmark formats may not work for your application. In these cases, one of the following may be used. The above color combinations must be used with these wordmark formats.

The minimum width of these versions of the university wordmark is 2 3/8 inches.
