Waiting For Godot

by: Samuel Beckett
Directed by: M. Kate Sinnett

October 17 – 22
Performing Arts Center – Arena Stage

Waiting is frequently an unwelcome space in a person’s life—a kind of limbo, not entirely of past, present or future. Samuel Beckett distills this experience into a play that alternates quickly between tragedy, comedy and absurdity. Two nomads wait for the mysterious Godot. They struggle to pass the time in nameless, nearly featureless location where even memory seems unreliable. Does he ever arrive? Do they ever leave? Does it matter? A classic in the theatre of the absurd tradition, this play is produced in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Beckett’s birth.
