The Seagull has been one of Anton Chekhov's best-loved plays since it was produced and directed by Konstantin Stanislavski at his newly founded Moscow Art Theatre in 1898. The central storyline of the play follows the young writer, Konstantin Treplev, as he struggles to create "new forms" of theatrica; expression, and to win the heart of the lovely aspiring actress, Nina. Yet this play is not your usual love story. Nina and Konstantin are surrounded by a web of eccentric characters who are each locked in their own obsessive pursuits of someone or something that they may have lost long ago or may never attain.
