April Sellers is a choreographer, performer and dance educator. She founded the April Sellers Dance Collective, a six year old modern dance commpany in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Sellers' choreography has received numerous awards and funding. Most notable are a 2006 Minnesota Sage Dance Award for "Outstanding Performance", and a 2004 Minnesota State Arts Board ARtist Initiative Grant. Her work continues to be funded by the Whitney Foundation.
Sellers' choreography has been presented by many theatres in Minneapolis and across Minnesota, most notably The Walker Arts Center, Toronto Dance Festival, Bryant Lake Bowl Theater, The Red Eye Theater, and the Minnesota Fringe Festival. As a performer, Sellers has worked with Moses Pendleton, Lynn Dally, Laurie Van Wieren, John Munger, Judith Howard, and Liz Lerman, among others.
Prior to teaching at SCSU, Sellers was teaching in the Minneapolis Public Schools, private studios, and at the Perpich Center for Art and Education. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance from Ohio State University.
