Task Force on Restructuring Meeting Notes
October 13, 2003
Present: Cogdill, Hansen, Starks-Martin, Dobey, Nunes, Larkin, Spaude,
Murphy, SubbaNarasimha, Bayerl
Absent: Rundquist, Kang, Lawrence
Andrew Larkin passed out a draft of a memo to be sent asking people
to meet with the committee. There was discussion about the wording of
the questions, and whether it was preferable to ask for reactions to
the Mortimer/Ghosh report, or for their own ideas. The memo should include
the questions the committee has been charged with, as background information,
but they should be asked for their ideas with their specific areas of
concern in mind.
It was noted that the list of people to be invited is not limited to
those mentioned in the notes from the meeting of Oct. 10.
Dennis Nunes and Andrew Larkin will re-draft the memo so it can be sent
today. Two people can be invited to each meeting. Times will be set at
7:30 and 8:00 for the morning meetings, and 2:30 and 3:00 for the afternoon
meetings.
The memo should also invite people to bring written narrative or schematics
to illustrate their thoughts on organizational structure, and since people
may not be able to have written information available as soon as they’re
asked to meet with the committee, they will be asked to submit any written
material by Nov. 1. We will have a flip chart available, as well.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15 Dennis Nunes and Mahmoud Saffari (if he’s
available) will present their ideas.
It was agreed that meeting notes would be e-mailed to committee members
for revisions, and Andrew Larkin would send them out to the campus community
via the announce list.
