Discipline/Program Workshops: Each year the MnSCU
Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) solicits for system-wide,
discipline-based faculty development workshops. These workshops are
one-day events to which all MnSCU faculty in the discipline or program
area are invited to participate. Workshops can also be planned to
be interdisciplinary in that faculty from more than one discipline/program
meet to discuss common issues. The goal of these workshops is to
provide a time and a place for faculty to engage in discipline-specific
or interdisciplinary conversations about teaching and learning. Get
grant funding for location, food, speakers, and supplies. Grants
are funded through the MnSCU Office of the Chancellor and the Bush
Foundation.
Other CTL Grants: These grants under MnSCU CTL
provide resources and structure for faculty to develop a project
for the classroom or program that explores new teaching methods,
assessment strategies, or ways to achieve learning that lasts.
Collaborate with other faculty or staff members. The Learning
that Lasts grant program focuses on active student learning
and campus change initiatives; awards are available up to $15,000.
Proposals are encouraged from faculty teams, programs, departments,
and institutions to support changes in curricula, assessments,
program requirements, teaching and learning activities, and other
areas that promote active learning and learning that lasts at the
classroom, program, department, or institutional level. Get funding
for time, materials, and equipment. All eligible faculty, administrators,
and staff may apply. The Instructional Development program
focuses on innovation in classroom instruction and student support
and encourages projects that approach student learning; proposals
may be from individuals, groups, departments, and those collaborating
from several departments, campuses, or institutions. This grant
funds only projects that improve curriculum already part of
existing courses or as an exception a pilot course which has
the support of administration. Cap of $5,000.
