Oct 14: Course Redesign at a Weekend Seminar

Ever had a course you wanted to change making it a pleasure to teach, while increasing student learning? Ever get the chance to do it? It takes time! Many of us have great visions to redesign our courses, but the complexities of course design get in the way. Here is your chance to learn about course redesign from people who have been very successful!

CTL has partnered with the National Center for Academic Transformation to offer this Weekend Seminar. Students in more than 30 courses have benefited from the efforts of faculty using the NCAT methodology to redesign their course structures, teaching methods, assessment and evaluation. This seminar is available to all interested parties who want to learn more about course design! Attendance is required for anyone possibly intending to enter the recently announced grant competition, Designed for Learning. For information about both the grants competition and the weekend seminar, please visit:

Oct 28-29: Register for Fall Discipline Workshop

Writing and Literature: Teaching New Audience and Each Other. Location: Inver Hills Community College It is expected that the makeup of student populations in the system will change dramatically over the next 10 years. Through the growing presence of non-traditional students, online learners, and non-native speakers among the populations, English departments in the system are continuing to redefine the needs of students. This workshop would provide a forum for instructors to discuss their new approaches to teaching both writing and literature, including teaching the changing populations of MnSCU students.
