Ethan Wittrock, a Mass Communications major and Concert Choir president

Ethan Wittrock is president of the Concert Choir and co-composer of a published choral work called "Verses Left to Write."

Ethan Wittrock is a polymath, a renaissance man, a Homo Universalis.

Since arriving at St. Cloud State in 2004, Wittrock has joined the Concert Choir, performed a Holocaust memorial oratorio at a concentration camp in France and been elected the choir president.

Not bad for a fellow majoring in Mass Communications and English.

He's written the lyrics for a choral work to be published by Santa Barbara Music Publishing in California. Called "Verses Left to Write," the song was premiered at the Sept. 19, 2008, inauguration of President Earl H. Potter III.

Wittrock did a semester of study in England, living and learning in a castle used in the Harry Potter movies.

He learned television production, began audio directing hockey broadcasts and rose to the position of general manager of UTVS, the student-run TV station.

Wittrock is no one-trick pony. He'll ride off campus in 2009 with a wide array of skills, a big-world attitude and a small-town affability honed in his hometown of Cold Spring, Minn., population 2,975.
