Bel Kambach, assistant professor of travel and tourism, meets with students. |
“This is my dream job” said Bel Kambach, describing her role as assistant professor of travel and tourism.
Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Kambach remembers being passionate about two things, languages and travel. These passions brought Kambach to the U.S to study and complete her undergraduate degree. Academic achievement provided opportunity for her to travel to Finland, Sweden, Italy, France and Spain. It was this travel that helped Kambach become fluent in six languages.
She is proud to be the first female professor in the Geography Department and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Kambach is a believer in the importance of students receiving practical experience. As the director of internships, she has used her contacts in the travel and tourism industry to help students find work in countries like Malaysia and the Maldives.
Kambach teaches courses travel and tourism and travel operations and planning. Her master’s degree from Endicott College, Beverly, Mass., included study at a hotel school in Bulle, Switzerland.
The Geography Department offers majors in geography, travel and tourism and land surveying/mapping science and offers concentrations in American studies, anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science and sociology.
