  1. Is it safe to study abroad?

    The programs offered by St. Cloud State are all in countries that are deemed safe by the State Department. Any changes will be reflected in the itinerary of the program. In the event that a program is cancelled because of unsafe conditions, a full refund will be given to all participants.

  2. What subject areas are available to study while I am abroad?

    On several of the programs you directly enroll at the University and are able to take any courses offered. While our language programs are setup to improve the language skills of the participants, still other programs have a specific content area, or change from year-to-year depending on faculty in attendance. Stop by the office or call for more information.

  3. How will the credits be applied on my SCSU transcript?

    Credits taken abroad can be applied to your major, minor, elective, or general education requirements. By filling out the Academic Advisor approval form prior to departure, you will set up how credits will be applied to your transcript once grades are reported.

  4. Do I need to speak a foreign language to study abroad?

    SCSU offers both language and non-language based programs. If you participate on a program where English is not the native language you will receive an introduction to the language as part of your program.

  5. What travel opportunities are available?

    Many of our programs have a weeklong cultural trip to a city in or near the host country. England-London, Germany Language-Berlin, Germany Business- Salzburg, France- Carcassonne, Chile- Santiago. Also during breaks from classes participants may travel as they choose.

  6. What types of living accommodations are available?

    The options range from living in a castle, an apartment, residential hall,and to staying with a family in the host country. Accommodations are dependent on the program you choose.

  7. What if St. Cloud State doesn't have a program I want to go on?

    If we do not have a program that interests you, many options are open to you through other universities or organizations. The only requirement is that the program you wish to go on is accredited.
