Location

Yonsei University at Wonju is located in the city of Wonju, an hour and a half drive away from Seoul, the capital of Korea. Located in the vicinity of the beautiful Chiak Mountain and numerous beaches on the East Sea coast, Wonju is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Korea. It is also a preferred place for such leisure sports as skiing, rafting, MTB, scuba diving, and many more. International students will enjoy their free time experiencing the Korean culture and nature in these natural surroundings. top

Academic Program

All the activities in the GV Program are conducted in English. International students will come to understand Korean lifestyle and its culture while Korean students learn and experience Western culture. Classes will include: assigned Korean language courses and regular university offerings (as chosen by student). Students will also be expected to participate in weekly mutual mentor sessions and team meetings. top

Living Accommodations

International students live with Korean students in Maeji 3 Haksa, a university owned and operated residence hall. Students will live with two other roommates. Internet is available. top

Selection

Admission to this program is open to all academic majors and minors. Applicants must be currently enrolled, degree-seeking SCSU students. All participants must be in good academic standing and have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5. The Global Village gives priority to those students who have successfully completed at least two semesters of university level work. They request that the candidate also have a sufficient command of the English language. top

Program Costs & Financial Aid

Participating students will pay SCSU tuition, but all other applicable fees, including special course fees, international orientation fee, key deposits, books, and housing costs will be paid to the host university. Food, transportation (including air fare), and other travel is the responsibility of the student.

* * * Financial assistance of 3,000,000 Korean won (approximately US$3,000) may be provided to an international student participating in the GV program with certain obligations. In addition, tuition and dormitory fees are waived for them. This is often enough to cover travel and living expenses in most cases. Stop into Lawrence Hall for more information. * * * top
