CHINA, Tianjin - Tianjin Foreign Studies University
Overview / About the Program / More Information / Apply Now
the cross cultural learning experience of a lifetime. . .
Location
Tianjin is located about 65 miles south of Beijing, and is near the North China Sea. Presently, Tianjin is the third largest city in China with a population reaching beyond 9 million people, and is renowned for its bicycling population of about eight million. The city was the center of a large European community in the early 1900's. Architectural evidence of this still remains today in the beautiful Italian, German and Russian-styled buildings of the European concessions. Students can explore Food Street (100 Chinese restaurants under one roof), Culture Street or bike to Water Park, Tianjin Zoo and a host of cultural activities.
Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), founded in 1964, is one of eight such universities in China that are specialized in foreign languages instruction, cultural studies and international trade and economic studies. top
Academic Program
The program is designed to offer students the unique opportunity to study Chinese language and culture without prior knowledge of the language. If a group of students apply for this program in any given semester, a St. Cloud State University resident director will also accompany this group. If a group program is not going, SCSU students can still participate as direct exchange students.
Courses offered include Elementary Chinese Language, China Studies, Chinese Culture, History, and Civilization. top
