Study Abroad Policies
Study Abroad Participants subject to Code of Conduct
Students on Study Abroad are subject to the laws in the foreign country they are studying in as well as the policies on the university campus in which they are studying. They are also subject to the St. Cloud State University Code of Conduct.
Enrollment Agreement and Contract Policies
Students sign an Enrollment Agreement and Contract form which they are also to abide by and understand while abroad.
Cancellation Policies
Students will pay any unrecovered costs that have been paid by the Center for International Studies. This may include airfare, tour costs, and any other costs paid out for the program on the students’ behalf. If the student cancels within 60 days of departure, an additional fee of $250.00 will be assessed.
St. Cloud State University Study Abroad has a Force Majeure Clause which means if there is an extraordinary event beyond the control of the student or the university such as war, an epidemic, acts of terrorism, a natural disaster, etc. the University may cancel a study abroad program. Students will be reimbursed any recoverable costs in these situations. Because not all costs are recoverable, note that this means students could incur a financial loss. Students are encouraged to purchase travel insurance for unforeseen personal situations, but travel insurance will not cover situations such as war, an epidemic, acts of terrorism, or a natural disaster.
Please contact the Center for International Studies for the complete Cancellation Policy.
Payment Policy
All program fees, including tuition and all costs associated with the program, will be paid prior to departure. If financial aid is covering the program and tuition costs, the aid needs to be accepted two weeks prior to departure.
Health Insurance Policy
Proof of health insurance will be provided to the Study Abroad Office one month prior to departure. Failure to provide adequate proof of health insurance one month prior to departure may disqualify you from the program and you will be required to pay the of costs already paid out by the university for the program.
