"The Trip to Nzulezo"

Essay:
Reaching the remote fishing village ofNzulezo required an hour
canoe trip through some of Ghana's most beautiful
landscape. This photo was taken as we were clearing an area of very dense vegetation.
It was warm, humid and
peacefully quiet as our guides pushed us along. I feel that this photo accurately
depicts the feeling. We had many
unique experiences in Ghana and visiting Nzulezo was one of the more memorable.
The little village is built entirely
on stilts and is comprised of a friendly community of people. The children were
particularly anxious to have their
picture taken and interact with us. After snapping their photo with a digital
camera, they would all crowd around
wanting to see the picture of themselves. Interacting with the Ghanian people
was one of the highlights of this trip.
It was a very memorable experience. This photo will always remind me of the "feel" of
Ghana, warm and tropical and
unique.
