Memories of Alnwick
Tina Ham Peterson ’93, Minneapolis, Alnwick 1989-90
My Alnwick experience changed my life. It was the most
beneficial thing that I could have done during my college
career besides getting a degree (and meeting my husband).
The six months I spent in England opened my eyes to the
world; sparked an interest in traveling; showed me that
even though there are many differences among countries,
there are also many similarities; made me grow up and become
more self-sufficient; and introduced me to life-long friends.
The British professors, Marjorie and Christine, were amazing
and so easily brought classroom learning to reality in our
field trips. My homestay family, the Kirkbrides, were great
and we still keep in touch after 15 years. Traveling abroad
is the one thing that I encourage all college students to
try. I would love to relive the experience and appreciate
it even more.
The study abroad programs that St. Cloud State offers are
amazing and an incredible asset to the university.
