Memories of Alnwick
Joe Herzberg ’00, Minneapolis, Alnwick 1997-98
During our time in Alnwick there was a film crew working
at the castle. They were shooting the movie Elizabeth. Some
of us were hired as extras for a crowd scene. They dressed
us up in peasant clothes and covered all of our piercings
with make-up. We spent a good eight hours in the field behind
the castle that day. We cheered for two minutes and then
sat for twenty. Cheered for two, sat for twenty. Screamed,
"You filthy swine!" and sat for twenty. When we
were filming a scene at the gate they told us not to talk
because our American accents were ruining the takes. After
all of our hard work they cut both of the scenes we were
in. The only good that came from it was some really good
pictures of me in tights.
