Outdoor Recreation
Outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, boating, swimming and skiing, begin in our backyard and extend north to the Canadian border.
Outdoor Endeavors offers
outdoor trips, clinics and workshops to help you discover your outdoor skills. Explore our world on snowshoes or in a kayak rented from the Rental Resource Center. - Run, walk, bike or inline skate on Beaver Island Trail, adjacent to campus.
- Powder Ridge Winter Recreational Area offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing 20 minutes south of campus.
- Fishing, skiing, biking, hiking, swimming, scuba diving and more are possible at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve.
- Fish, hike or hunt at any number of spots in the area, including Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge.
- Camping opportunities abound in area state parks, including Maria, Glacial Lakes, Sibley and Wild River.
- Skateboarding or inline skating more your style? Check out Raymond Skatepark or Beaver Island Trail, adjacent to campus.
- Consider birding on one of the hiking trails at Heritage Nature Center.
- Love flowers and plants? During the summer, visit the historic Munsinger Gardens and Clemens Gardens.
