The Office of University Communications supervises all public information about the university including advertising, media relations, sports information, events, imaging (photography) and publications.
While the office primarily is concerned with university-wide issues, it does offer a number of services for students:
- Student Workers - Students studying advertising, marketing, public relations, journalism or communications may approach the director to work on specific projects. Some projects are for student wages, others may be available for credit, many can be done because it looks good on a resume.
- Photographs - Color passport photos and copies of university photographs are sold to students through the Imaging Office.
- Publications, Posters, Flyers - Assistance and style guidance is available through the Publications Office for student organizations. Proper use of the university wordmark and logos is monitored here.
- Media Relations - While students normally won't be dealing with reporters directly, media relations specialists may contact students to represent the university in news stories. Athletes, perfoming arts students and student government officers are most often contacted. If you are aware of a campus person, activity, or circumstance that is notable, contact the Communications Office, ext. 4029.
