Racism and Racial Harassment Policy
Harassment of students and employees on the basis of race, national origin and other protected characteristics is prohibited by state law, federal law and the Minnesota State University System board rules and regulations. If you feel you have been subjected to racism and/or racial harassment you should:
Report the incident as soon as possible. It is important that steps be taken quickly so racism and racial harassment will not continue to occur. The state university system grievance procedure outlines that the incident should be reported no later than 90 days after the incident has occurred. If the act has criminal implications, it is particularly important that it be reported immediately.
Keep careful records. Record the facts in a journal or on a tape recorder. Record dates, times, places, witnesses (including their names and addresses), and the nature of the harassment.
