Convert to StarID

Steps to a Successful StarID Conversion

How do you convert to StarID? It's easy (well...relatively easy) if you follow these steps.
If you run into snags, don't worry. ITS is here to help you out, contact HuskyTech at (320) 308-7000 or

StarID - ActivateSTEP 1: ACTIVATE your StarID and SYNC your passwords

  • What does this mean?
    1. Activate your StarID (
    2. During the activation process, we recommend that you set your StarID password to match your SCSU HuskyNetID password (e.g., make it the same as the password for both accounts) in order to reduce confusion during the conversion.
  • Helpful Tip: Make sure that you remember your new StarID Password.

  • What does this mean?
For any systems that are entirely web/cloud-based (such as D2L), you shouldn't have any configuration issues. You will log into the services using your StarID as your username and StarID password as the password.
Applications on your devices (desktops, laptops, tablets, mobiles, etc.) that store a username or password (like an email client) will need to be reconfigured with your StarID Username and Password.
  • How do I do it? Refer to the StarID device configuration wizard for some of the standard set up instructions.
Note that not *all* systems or configurations are represented here. If your system is not represented, please contact the HuskyTech, (320) 308-7000,

STEP 3: Start Using your StarID for eServices (other services after March 7, 2014)

  • What does this mean?
StarID is how you will sign onto most St. Cloud State University services and most MNSCU Services.
  • How do I do it? Use the username (now StarID) and password you created in STEP 1 above to access most of your campus systems.
