All students who complete and submit the "opt-in" form, give a five minute presentation to a class or organization on the benefits of participating in or attending the Student Research Colloquium (SRC), submit a fully stamped passport to the SRC registration desk prior to the evening awards ceremony, and present their poster at the Student Research Colloquium are entered into the competition for the Best Poster Awards.

Posters are judged on visual effectiveness, language appropriateness, originality/creativity, and content.

Balsy Kasi, associate professor in the Department of Environmental and Technological Studies, coordinates the judging process.

Following the end of the afternoon poster session, the judges choose one winner and up to six honorable mentions from among the semi-finalists.

The Best Poster Awards are announced at the SRC closing ceremony, which follows the final SRC presentation session. The winner is awarded $300; the six honorable mentions receive $150 each.
