The Master of Science in Special Education
The M.S. degree is earned when candidates have completed at least 30 graduate credits. The exact program will be worked out with a graduate advisor, but typically includes 9-18 credits of special education courses, from 9 to 15 credits in research (SPED 601, SPED 602, CEEP 678 [Graduate Statistics], and SPED 699 (thesis students only), 3 graduate credits from outside the department, and one other elective. All candidates for the M.S. degree must complete a capstone writing project, either a Thesis (Plan A), or a Starred Paper (Plan B). St. Cloud State 's Department of Special Education does not offer a comprehensive M.S. (courses only) option.
