Teacher Quality Enhancement

In October of 2003, St. Cloud State University received a $5 million Teacher Quality Enhancement (TQE) Partnership Grant. The grant was written in collaboration with the St. Cloud Area Schools, and included three initiatives:

Co-Teaching in Student Teaching: this new model provides a comprehensive and rigorous experience for the teacher candidates, allows the cooperating teacher to remain actively involved, and enhances the quality of learning for the P-12 students.

Professional Development: together with a Professional Development Consortium (PDC), TQE created and administered an online professional development needs survey each year (2004-05 through 2008-09); the survey was completed by hundreds of area teachers, and provided direct feedback from teachers as to their professional development needs, strengths, and preferred types and times of professional development.

TQE Hosted 5 "You Asked For It" Summer Professional Development Conferences for teachers - from 2003-2009. Unfortunately, there won't be a summer conference in 2010.

Thanks to all of you who participated!

Mentoring: a professional learning community studied exemplary mentoring and induction programs, and developed a mentor training program.
