Job History & Responsibilities:
Directly after graduation, I accepted a position as a Sales Representative for Cintas Corporation, providing rental uniforms to manufacturing and food service industries. I entered the Medical Supply Distribution Industry as a Sales Representative with Medline Industries, Inc., in the beginning of 2006. I provide medical supplies to the long term care market in Minnesota. I market over 100,000 products to Nursing Homes, Assisted Living facilities, Home Health Care Agencies and Home Medical Equipment Retailers. My most important job responsibility is to build strong business relationships in order to achieve sales growth. Specifically responsibilities include prospecting, customer service, collections, territory management, generating product interest and sales opportunities.
How I use Sociology in my job:
Everyday I meet with people from different ethnic, and educational backgrounds, with diverse economic statuses. My education in Sociology enables me to better understand each level of management’s difficulties, needs and desired outcomes concerning supplies I provide, not to mention the organization as a whole. This understanding gives me the ability to prescribe the best programs and product solutions that will have a positive effect on the organization’s desired outcomes. The most important one is to provide the highest quality of care to the resident’s to promote dignity.
