1. What is your perspective on oppressed people?
What has influenced the formation of this perspective?
What do you recognize as examples of privilege, oppression,
or social inequality experienced in your own life?
What have you learned from relationships with people who
are different from you (different oweing to their race,
ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, physical/mental status,
social class, or age)?
How have specific classes and other events on campus helped
you to think about your own racism, homophobia, sexism,
anti-semitism, ableism, classism, ageism?
As a social worker, how will you address issues of oppression
or social inequality within your community?
2. Is there anything in your personal life—such as chemical
abuse or criminal charges—that could interfere with you
becoming an effective social worker?
