Admission Process

Students are eligible to apply to become a Social Work major when they have completed Social Work 195, Sociology 160, Applied Psychology 262 or Psychology 240, Biology 103, Human Relations 201 206, and have a GPA of at least 2.5.

Program Objectives and Goals

Students in the Social Work Department are working to develop skills and knowledge in many areas. 

GLBT Position

The Social Work Department at St. Cloud State University has always involved its students and faculty in efforts to combat racism, sexism, and other forms of human oppression as a vital part of its educational mission.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Social Work at St. Cloud State University is to engage students in an educational process that prepares them to think critically, and work effectively and collaboratively as generalist social workers.

When you first inform the SCSU Registrar’s Office that you are interested in Social Work as a potential major, you are assigned a faculty person in the Department as your academic advisor.
