Letter of Application
(2 pages – typed)
Please articulate your reasons for choosing a social work major.
This statement must include your understanding of the mission
of social work as a profession, and your vision for yourself
as a social worker as well as the specific experiences or information
that have helped you make this decision about the profession.
Please indicate how your vision of yourself as a social worker
includes activities to increase social justice.
What do you identify as strengths you bring into your social
work education, and what do you identify as areas where you
need to continue to grow?
You will be evaluated on the following:
1. Clarity of presentation of ideas
2. Writing Skills (organization, spelling, grammar).
3. Understanding of the mission of the profession.
4. Your understanding of the connection between your vision
of yourself and the mission of the profession.
Make two copies of your Letter of Application so that you can
place one of the copies into your portfolio.
