The Social Work Degree

BSW - The bachelor’s program prepares social work majors for entry-level professional positions in the social welfare and human service delivery system, or entry into graduate school. The Minnesota Higher Education Coordinating Committee first approved the Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree (BSW) in 1973. The National Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredits the bachelor’s program. MSW - The master's program began in fall 2007. The Foundation program is for experienced practitioners with two years of post-bachelor degree experience. This Adbvanced Generalist program is 56 credits. The Advanced Standing program is for persons holding a BSW degree, awarded within the last 7 years. This program also requires two years of practice experience. Only full time students are being admitted. Classes are offered Thursday and Friday evenings from 3 pm - 9 pm.
