Respect and Responsibility

St. Cloud State University is committed to providing an open and safe campus environment in which you can explore your academic, personal, and social aspirations. During your college years, you will be faced with exciting possibilities and challenges, as well as a variety of choices. It is our expectation that you will become part of a community that works cooperatively to create a climate free of oppressive interactions and relationships.

To help meet this very important goal and to promote a safer community, all new and newly transferred students are required to complete a one-hour workshop entitled, “Respect and Responsibility.” The purpose of this workshop is to reduce oppressive attitudes and actions. There are eighty (80) one-hour sessions offered September 7-September 21 at a variety of times so that you can find a session that meets your particular schedule. If you do not complete the Respect and Responsibility workshop, you will not be allowed to register for the following semester’s classes.

You have been sent specific instructions on completing this requirement on your Husky-net e-mail, so please make sure you are regularly checking your campus e-mail account.

Your commitment to this program, and others like it, will result in a welcoming environment that is safe and productive for all students. It will also prepare you for success in the work world. It is our collective responsibility to understand these issues and work together to create a respectful climate that allows all of our students to fully develop their personal goals while achieving academic success. We look forward to your participation in this important program.

(Please note that this is not the same as the Informed on Sexual Violence Program. Both workshops are required.)
