Transfer Student Scholarships

St. Cloud State University seeks to reward high achieving students for their academic successes through various scholarship opportunities.

St Cloud State University awards a limited number of scholarships to incoming transfer students with strong academic credentials. Transfer students should demonstrate achievement with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale Phi Theta Kappa and Alumni Scholarships are also available. To be considered for all Transfer Scholarships (including PTK and Alumni), students must complete a Transfer Student Scholarship Application. Transfer Scholarships are awarded Fall Semester.

Non-resident tuition scholarships

Non-Resident Tuition Scholarships are awarded to students who do not otherwise qualify for in-state or reciprocity tuition. Recipients pay the equivalent of in-state tuition. Transfer applicants must provide evidence of a 3.0 GPA in all college work (minimum of 24 transferrable credits) to qualify.

Alumni Scholarship

  • Awarded to select new transfer students who are legacy students (dependent upon SCSU alumni)
  • Strong academic record

Charles and Laurel Brainard Scholarship

  • Student must have financial need and demonstrate leadership potential
  • Incoming student must have a good academic record
  • Must be full-time students

Coborn Plaza New Entering Transfer Student Scholarship

  • Students eligible for this scholarship must be an admitted to St. Cloud State University
  • A completed housing agreement on file to live in Coborn Plaza Apartments
  • Incoming transfer student must have a good academic record

  • Students eligible for this scholarship must be an admitted to St. Cloud State University
  • A completed housing agreement on file to live in Coborn Plaza Apartments
  • Incoming transfer student must have a good academic record

  • Incoming transfer student with a good academic record
  • Student must have financial need and demonstrate leadership potential

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship

  • Must be current members of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society
  • Exemplary leadership qualities
  • Strong academic record

Legacy Tuition Waiver

  • Available for students from non-reciprocity states who are not otherwise receiving in-state tuition rates
  • Students whose parent, step-parent or adopted parent graduated from SCSU are eligible for this award, which enables recipients to pay the equivalent of in-state tuition
