First-Year Student (Freshman) Scholarships
St. Cloud State University seeks to reward high achieving students for their academic successes through various scholarship opportunities. As part of your application for admission, you are also applying for merit scholarships. Students who are admitted will automatically be considered for the majority of SCSU new student scholarships.
First Year Student Academic Scholarships
First year students who are admitted to the University prior to March 1 will be considered for an academic scholarship. These scholarships awarded through the Office of Admissions will not require an additional application and are merit based; factoring into consideration a student’s academic record, class rank, and standardized test scores.
Academic scholarships range from $750-$5,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years pending GPA and course requirements are met.
Wondering if you will qualify for a First Year Student Academic Scholarship? Scholarship award amounts are based on the class rank, GPA, and official test scores submitted at the time of admission. Scholars will be notified upon admission to the University if they will be receiving an Academic Scholarship.
Students can expect to receive a scholarship if you are
- in the top 30% of your class, and
- have scored at least a 23 on your ACT, or
- have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA or above on a 4.0 scale
For students attending a non-ranking high school, you can expect an award if you
- have scored at least a 23 on your ACT, or
