Prepare for a Visit/Teacher Package

Information for schools with a visit with the Science Express scheduled.

Elementary School Instructions:

1) Open the document (the provided format is MS Excel 2003)

2) Click on the Elementary Set-up worksheet tab (bottom left of the page)

3) Fill in the areas highlighted in green
School Name: Enter your school name
Curriculum contact: Typically the teacher responsible for coordinating the visit
Local contact: Typically a person who lives near the school who can do drive-by visits over the weekend to ensure all is well
School Begins: Enter your school starting time
School Ends: Enter your school ending time
SE increment: This is the smallest amount of time you would like the day broken into. We suggest 15 or 20 minutes which translates to three or four blocks per hour.
Once this is done, the next tab "Elementary Schedule" will be populated based on the information provided.

4) Click on the "Elementary Schedule" tab

5) Fill in the schedule. An example column is provided.
Time for lunch is essential and a short prep period 30-40 minutes is appreciated. pK-2nd grade classes usually schedule 20-30 minutes, grades 3 and above 40-60 minutes.

Middle and High School Instructions:

1) Open the document (the provided format is MS Excel 2003)

2) Click on the MS and HS Set-up worksheet tab (bottom left of the page)

3) Fill in the areas highlighted in green
School Name: Enter your school name
Curriculum contact: Typically the teacher responsible for coordinating the visit
Local contact: Typically a person who lives near the school who can do drive-by visits over the weekend to ensure all is well
School Begins: Enter your school starting time
School Ends: Enter your school ending time
Daily Schedule: Fill in the Begin and end times for each of your
Teacher contact info for all teachers show classes will visit the Science Express
Once this is done, the next tab "MS and HS Schedule" will be populated based on the information provided.

4) Click on the "MS and HS Schedule" tab

5) Fill in the schedule. An example column is provided.
Time for lunch is essential and a short prep period 30-40 minutes is appreciated.
