EXPORT: "Connecting the Dots on Incoterms" presented by the MN Trade Office

You’re ready to export and your prospects are looking good, but what about those pesky contracts?  Who’s responsible for what and how will you get it there?

The Incoterms rules or International Commercial terms are a series of pre-defined commercial terms published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) widely used in international commercial transactions.  A series of three-letter trade terms related to common sales practices, the Incoterms rules are intended primarily to clearly communicate the tasks, costs and risks associated with the transportation and delivery of goods.

International Terms of Trade are negotiated at the point of contract agreement. Though they are a small part of your international sales contract, correctly applied, an Incoterm® will mitigate any bumps in your international trade transactions - keeping your cash flow in the right direction.

You'll leave this seminar understanding the implications of each of the 11 Incoterms® from an operational perspective and how they affect your international trade sales in the following ways:

* Did you meet the terms of the contract?
* When do goods transfer ownership?
* Who bears the risk of loss?
* Who prepares the export documentation?
* Do the payment terms agree with the Incoterm®?
