Frequently Asked Questions

A Resource25 PowerPoint Presentation is available for download in addition to the questions and answers listed below.

1. What is Resource25 and how does it relate to Schedule25?

For all practical purposes Resource25 is a program that stores information on rooms, people, and events (classes). It links to Schedule25. Schedule25 finds rooms for classes and meetings that aren't yet scheduled into rooms.

2. What are the benefits of Resource25 and why is SCSU using it?

Resource25 with provide greater efficiency in finding spaces for classes, meetings and other events. It will allow us to improve monitoring and management of SCSU resources. A positive consequence is that departments won't have to make lots of phone calls to find a room for classes and other events.

3. Who are the committee members?

See the Committee Members page.

4. Do I lose control of space I have always used in the past?

No. Every department will still schedule classes into the rooms they have historically used. Instead of calling around for available rooms you can now let Schedule25 find rooms. This should make scheduling classes easier.

5. Will I have to take the classroom assigned to me?

Not necessarily. There will be more than one round of scheduling. Once Schedule25 assigns a room to a class, the assignment will be reviewed by Registration personnel and the appropriate unit office. If there are problems, they will be reviewed for solutions (i.e. can a class switch time of day or day of week?). Only after the assignments have been reviewed and are as appropriate as possible will the rooms be attached to classes.

6. Where do I go or who do I contact if the space assignment seems inappropriate?

If an assignment will not work because the room does not have the features or equipment that you need to teach, you may contact the Director of Registration who will work with you.

7. How will scheduling of large classrooms (capacity of 100+) change?

As a preliminary measure, Schedule25 will assign these rooms to large classes. Academic Affairs will then review to make decisions as needed, so departments should still submit requests through the deans, as it is now.

8. How will Resource25 /Schedule25 change how a department develops their schedule?

Departments should initially schedule any classes with special teaching and/or faculty needs into rooms they have historically used. More general instructional classes may then be scheduled via Schedule25 in our many general purpose classrooms. Departments will indicate building preferences for this more general assignment.

9. Who do I contact if there is a discrepancy between the space description and the actual space features?

We are still working on the answer to this question.

10. Who do I contact if there is a problem with the features in a room (i.e. projector is missing)?

We are still working on the answer to this question.

11. Where will I be able to view room information and will it include spaces other than classrooms?

We will be adding a WebViewer to St. Cloud State 's web site that will allow you to see both occupied and available spaces. Initially, we are only loading in classroom spaces, but in the future other spaces will be added as well.

12. Will Atwood be included on the WebViewer?

Atwood is currently using a different software package for facility scheduling. Their system currently has a web viewer. We are investigating ways to link these two systems together to make seamless viewing for the campus.

13. When does this process go into effect?

We will be doing a dry run with the Spring 2004 schedule and a parallel run with Fall 2004. The system should be online for Spring 2005.

14. Will people be able to use this system for a one-time room request?

Yes. When the system is operational, individuals may go to the WebViewer, find an available space, and submit an online request to use the space. More information will become available as we implement this part of the system.

15. Who has priority for the rooms?

Academic classes will have first priority for room usage. After assignments have been made, however, rooms will become available for other on-campus and off-campus groups.
