About Resource25

Resource25 brings all room, event, and resource scheduling under one system. Buildings, rooms and their features, departments and their needs, faculty, classes, and even outside customers are stored within this system. The integration of this data with event management capability means that we will be able to more easily manage and use our facilities. We can use the information in Resource25 to direct our classroom scheduling process, but it can also be used to reserve rooms for both on-campus and off-campus groups.

Schedule25 is an automatic classroom scheduling system that assigns courses to classrooms based on the needs, features, and preferences loaded into Resource25. At SCSU departments will schedule their courses into rooms they have historically used, but if there are classes they are unable to schedule or those they do not wish to schedule, those classes will be sent to Schedule25. The process in Schedule25 allows for multiple runs until the users are satisfied that we have achieved the best matches possible. Only after this testing period are the classes officially scheduled into the rooms.

Accompanying Resource25 is a WebViewer that will be tailored to fit with the SCSU web site. On this WebViewer events, classes and room availability can be posted for both on-campus and off-campus audiences. We can create views that can be accessed only by on-campus personnel and organizations and others that can be used by off-campus populations looking for university activities. Imagine a student or faculty group needing a room and going to the web to find an open space and request the use of the space all at the same time.

Implementation of the Series25 modules at SCSU will enhance our ability to manage and use our facility resources. We hope to use the system for Spring 2005 course development, and we look forward to the input and involvement of our campus community in the process.
