Ice Breakers

Ice Breakers

What are they?

Activities for getting to know your fellow group members so you can become a team.

What is the difference between an icebreaker and a teambuilder?

An icebreaker is an activity designed to help people get to know each other and usually involves sharing names and other background information.

A team builder is a higher risk activity that is designed to help groups form bonds and become a team.

Benefits of Ice Breakers:

  • Reduces student anxiety.
  • It is a powerful means of fostering student-students interactions.
  • It makes it easier for students to form relationships early in the semester so they can work together, both in and out of class
  • Students are active participants versus passive participants from the onset
