The purpose of the residential life program and our entire staff is to promote the individual development of each person within our community. Central to our purpose is providing an environment in which respect for self and others "becomes a way of life".
Our community strives to provide a safe and secure living environment, the chance to experience and understand different cultures, values, ideas, and people, with the opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills.
Inherent to our mission are these goals:
- To recognize and develop actions and attitudes of respect for and celebration of diversity.
- To empower residence hall staff and students to be role models in creating a community living environment which respects diversity and the rights of all residents.
- To identify, create, and make accessible, a wide array of effective resources for students and staff.
- To implement a “student development model”,
designed to promote and encourage students to:
- develop a sense of belonging
- acquire new knowledge and skills
- choose informed attitudes
- assume self responsibility
We are committed to:
- providing the highest quality services possible that demonstrate, promote and practice a student centered approach
- respecting differences and working toward greater diversity and inclusiveness
- demonstrating civility in all discourse
- responsibility using fiscal and human resources to serve students in fulfilling the goals of Student Life and Development and the University mission
