Students are frequently required to obtain enrollment certifications from the Office of Records and Registration for governmental or private agencies. Many require verification of "full-time" or "half-time" status. University policy and the provisions set forth in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 are followed in providing information. St. Cloud State University uses the following definitions for full-time and half-time status:

Undergraduate Students

Full-time - 12 or more semester credits
Half-time - 6-11 semester credits
Less than Half-time - 5 or less semester credits

Graduate Students

Full-time - 8 or more semester credits
Half-time - 4-7 semester credits
Less than Half-time - 3 or less semester credits
