How can DARS help me explore other majors and show me how a change might affect my course work?
The u.select allows the student to run a “What if” DARS for any undergraduate program. A “What if” DARS audit automatically shows what and how completed course work will apply to the new major.
What should I do if there is an error on my DARS report?
If you have a question about an item on your DARS report pertaining to your requirements, you should contact your advisor.
If your name or address is incorrect, please contact the DARS Help Desk .
What will a DARS audit not do?
- A DARS audit is not a replacement for your advisor. While an audit is an advising tool, it is strongly encouraged that you plan your program in conjunction with your advisor.
- A DARS audit is not a way to register for courses. The audit will tell the student what is needed but it doesn’t replace the registration process.
- A DARS audit doesn’t replace written information, such as the University catalog, program fliers, and other handouts which explain programs and their policies.
Should I still consult with my advisor?
ABSOLUTELY. It is very important for you to consult your advisor when reading your DARS audit. Your advisor can help you interpret the audit and give you suggestions that an audit cannot give.
What should I do if I need changes made to my DARS report?
You should contact the DARS Help Desk.

When will my new major appear on my DARS?
Your DARS report will automatically update when your major approval from the Academic Department is received in the Office of Records and Registration.
Some of my transfer credits are not showing on my DARS; what should I do?
First, make sure that your transcript has been sent from your previous school. The DARS report has a “Transcript Received From” area that prints directly below your advisor’s name. Once SCSU receives your transcript a transfer evaluation is completed. Depending upon the time of the semester this process could take up to two weeks. Any changes posted to your academic record will also update on your DARS report at the end of that business day.
What if course changes such as add/drops or grade option changes are not showing on my DARS report?
Any course registration changes will not show on your audit until the next business day. The processing is done overnight. Your audit only updates once a day.
What if transfer courses are showing but are not being assigned to requirements?
This is happening because the SCSU transfer equivalencies aren’t specific enough to apply to your major requirements. Contact your major advisor.
Why does my DARS report show the wrong number of credit hours?
DARS reports sometimes show a different number of total credit hours than the SCSU Integrated Student Records System, because DARS only counts credits that count towards the degree, while the SCSU Integrated Student Records System counts credits for all courses taken.
What do I do if DARS online is not working?
You should contact the DARS Help Desk .
I am following a catalog earlier than 2002-2004. Can I still obtain an audit?
DARS audits are generated using all catalogs from 2002 on. If you are following a catalog earlier than 2002, you will not be able to obtain an accurate audit. For instance, if you are following the 1999-2000 catalog, you will receive an audit of your courses lined up against the 2002-2004 catalog.
